Patient testimonials

FHL is a condition that is lived as much as it is diagnosed. Before and after treatment, patients are best placed to tell what you will not read in the textbooks.

Why these stories matter

Numbers describe the condition. Diagrams show its mechanism. Protocols codify its treatment. But it is in patients’ own words that we discover what really changes in a life after FHL treatment: walking without pain, getting your walks back, returning to sport, sleeping through the night.

This page gathers the stories that patients have kindly agreed to share with the Centre du pied. It is deliberately human and personal. It will grow over time, as new people agree to tell their journey.

Here is the story of A.S., 76 years old, six months after a combined procedure on both heels and the right knee. A testimonial that says a lot about the place of FHL within a broader orthopedic journey.

A.S., 76 years old

Post-operative testimonial — 6 months

« This message is to express my warmest thanks. Six months have now passed since the operation on both heels as well as the right knee. Thank you for offering me, despite my age (76), the procedure on the heels, and for replacing the insert between the two fixed parts of the partial prosthesis. I feel so fit that I have covered 850 km of active walking since the operation, and all without any pain. Thank you again, and my very best regards. »

What this story illustrates

Age is not an absolute contraindication. When the indications are properly established, surgery remains relevant even in a motivated older patient. Functional recovery, measured here by walking capacity, can be complete.

This section is permanently under construction. The profiles that can help the most

Some journeys are barely visible in the medical literature and on information pages. If you recognize your own profile among these, your testimonial will be especially valuable to future patients.

Patients who wandered before the diagnosis

Diagnostic wandering

« You consulted several specialists over the years before FHL was identified. Your story helps others recognize the signs sooner. »

Athletes back in the game

Athletes

« You returned to running, tennis, skiing or any other sport after treatment. Your feedback helps hesitant athletes understand what they can hope for. »

Patients under conservative treatment

Conservative

« You benefited from conservative treatment (physiotherapy, osteopathy, foot orthoses) without surgery. Your journey shows that significant improvement is possible without an operating room. »

« The doctor diagnoses. The patient heals. And it is in the patient’s words that the true success of a treatment is measured. »

Dr Jacques Vallotton, Centre Orthopédique d’Ouchy

A few tips for writing your testimonial

You do not need to write a long or structured text. A few lines are enough. Here, however, are a few pointers to help other patients who will read your story.

What helps future patients the most

Describe the pain or symptoms that led you to consult, the time between the first signs and the diagnosis, what made the difference in your treatment, and what you would say today to someone who recognizes themselves in your situation. If you wish, you can add your age and the sport you practice.

All testimonials are published with only the initials of the first and last name, unless you request otherwise. No specific medical data is ever published without explicit consent. You can ask at any time for your testimonial to be edited or removed.
